The Art of Noticing Summer : A Four-Week Nature Journaling Exploration
With the warmth, abundance, and energy of the season all around, this five-week series invites you to slow down, engage your senses, and deepen your connection with the natural world through journaling.
As the weeks unfold, we will explore the vibrant rhythms of summer by observing plants, animals, weather patterns, and seasonal changes. Through guided prompts, sketching, and reflection, you'll develop your observation skills, nurture curiosity, and create a meaningful record of your experiences in nature.
We will meet at a different outdoor location each week on Tuesday from 10:00 to noon. throughout the month of July. Each session begins with a guided meditative walk to help you connect with the landscape and awaken your senses. Through mindful observation, you'll learn to notice the subtle details of the season, including textures, colors, movements, and sounds, and translate them into your journal. After our time observing, we'll gather to explore a variety of journaling materials and techniques in more depth, including sketching, watercolor, and reflective writing.
Between sessions, you'll receive gentle prompts and invitations to continue your journaling practice at home or in a favorite outdoor spot. As the weeks unfold, you'll develop your own creative style and confidence, discovering that nature journaling is less about artistic perfection and more about presence, curiosity, and connection.
All materials are provided. Come as you are, and leave with a journal filled with observations, reflections, and a renewed appreciation for the art of noticing.
